CHILDREN'S DAY: the celebration of our future
leaders

It is globally known that children are the future of
every society. And they will only be such if given
a solid foundation on which a better society can
be
achieve. The development of a nation therefore
can be
gauged by the importance that nation place on
it's
children. We can therefore say that children are
something that no society can function without.
As a
result of the importance assigned to those
individuals
comes a day reserved for them.
Children's day is recognized as a day in many
places
around the world to honor children.
Globally, it was first proclaimed by the world
conference for well being of children in 1954 to
protect
children working long hours in dangerous
circumstance and create access to all children to
education.
The UN general assembly recommended that all
countries of the world should establish a universal
children's day on an appropriate day for them.
Universally, it was established to encourage all
countries to make a day that will firstly promote
mutual exchange and understanding among
children,
secondly, to initiate actions that will benefit and
promote the welfare and interest of the world's
children.
Furthermore, the motif of setting the day is highly
demanding and should not be neglected and
shun. The
motif set by the world at large are geared toward
enhancing or for the good and betterment of the
children globally.
A child in Nigeria is a citizen that fall within the
age
of 0 to 17 years, they are always not responsible
for
themselves and therefore have to be taken care
of by
parent or guardians.
In term of education, our children are far left
behind.
It is worth pity and shameful that our children are
still under standard with respect to education.
Even
though there is no need to generalize but it is still
obvious . why are there differences between a
Nigerian and American child in term of education?
Meanwhile, the children's day in Nigeria was
created
in 1964 as inspired by united nations children
efforts.
It is made to be on the 27 day of may annually
and
school holidays are always issued to children.
The ideal practice is to select children from each
school to participate in a match post to be
saluting the
state leaders in a stadium in competition with
other
schools . the schools are selected for first,
second, and
third and price is given respectively for those who
won the match post . but this always makes the
celebration a one sided celebration because it is
made
always to be education based. Thus depriving
others
that are not enrol in school due to poverty or
some
intervening variables.
The children's day also remind us of right of the
children all over the nation irrespective of class,
tribe,
religion etc on maltreatment, abuse, violation of
their
right and many more. So the day needs to be
celebrated in order to carry the leaders of
tomorrow
along in the society.
Happy children's day, celebrate to all. Children
citizens all over the nation, it is a great day, let's
keep
the love moving...
Lastly, for any society to develop naturally, there
has
to be a connection between it's present and it's
future. Children serve as the bridge or a
transition
through which this is accomplished .
HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY!!!!!!
